“Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!” — Ozymandias, Percy Bysshe Shelley
Acoustic guitar.
Yeah. I have no idea how this remix works, but it almost gives “Vampire Killer” a mariachi feel. If you close your eyes and sleep with Rose McGowan, you can almost imagine Antonio Banderas whipping a stake-shooter out of a guitar case to slay Salma Hayek.
Not this Salma Hayek, the other Salma Hayek.
If noting else, composer Joshua Morse should be recognized for not going totally crazy and including sampled farts and kitten mewling just because he suddenly figured out how to record such things.
“Vampire Snap,” along with a host of other excellent Castlevania remixes can be found on the OC remix compilation album, Castlevania: Sonata of the Damned.
“Vampire Killer,” the closest Castlevania has ever come to having a true theme song.
Outside of the ubquitous Mario Overworld music, this may be the most remixed/sampled/lifted piece of gaming music in existence.
